WHAT WE DO

THE MEN’S TEAM The Men of the church have reorganized their group and are now under a new name: “The Men’s Team”. Along with a new name will be a new format, new gathering time and a new menu. Because of the new changes, the Men’s Sunday Dinner for the month of September was canceled. Preparation and planning is now underway for the starting of the “Men’s Team” Saturday morning breakfast the third Saturday of October. The men will gather at 8:30 in the morning for a continental style breakfast, prayer time and inspirational talks given by various men of the group. The Men’s Team is making the new changes in order to serve the men of the church at a better meeting time and with an intentional approach of meeting the spiritual needs of the men of the congregation. All men of the church are invited to attend the new “Men’s Team” morning breakfast on Saturday morning, October 18th at 8:30 a.m. Come for a time of casual gathering, a light breakfast and prayer and inspiration. The Men’s planning team has been in prayerful agreement for the past month to have God lead in His way to make the new men’s group a meaningful and supportive team of the Montesano Church of God. Come and help make it a success! We will be looking for all Men on Saturday morning, October 18th at 8:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. See you there! WOMEN OF FAITH NEWS Mark your calendars for the next time the Women of Faith meet. Savor this Moment – Embracing the Goodness in Everyday Life. 2008 CHURCH OF GOD WOMEN’S CONFERENCE Grand Rapids, Michigan is the location of the 2008 Church of God Women’s Convention on October 16-19. Guest speakers include Jeannette Flynn, Kingdom Ministry Team Director at Church of God Ministries in Anderson, Indiana; Diana Swoope, Administration Pastor at Arlington Church of God in Akron, Ohio; Mary Ann Garcia, writer professor and co-pastor at Ministerios Iglesia de Dios in Caguas, Puerto Rico; Elsa Johnson Bass, ordained minister and award winning Master Teacher of Theater at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts; Arnetta McNeese Bailey, Executive Director of the Women of the Church of God and founder and Executive Director of Priscilla’s Lost and Found, a faith based mentoring program; Gilbert Stafford, Professor Emeritus of Christian Theology and Director of the Doctor of Ministry Studies Program at Anderson University School of Theology and Mandy Mobley Bohm, a nationally recognized soloist, vocal coach, guest speaker and worship leader from Barboursville, WV. Conference leaders include Gloria Gaither, Cynthia Thomas, Kathy Slamp, Alice Dise, Cynthia James, Kimberly Majeski and Gilbert Stafford. The Convention Registration, which includes Prayer Breakfast, Banquet and Conferences, is $150 through June 25, 2008. The fee is raised to $175 for those received June 26 or later, including onsite registration. Hotel accommodations are available at the Amway Grand Hotel. It’s that time of year again when kids begin to wake up early to get ready to go back to school after a long and hot summer. It can be hard to wake up earlier than you did all summer, especially those who were used to sleeping in until noon. So, for all you Youth (grades 7th through 12th) out there get ready: Next Wednesday, September 3rd, Lisa Zimmerman and Pastor Marc will launch a new youth group! Plan to meet in the downstairs youth room around 7 o’clock for a great time! I’m very excited to finally have something for our youth in the church to attend and be able to learn more about their Heavenly Father, because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
